Android

Google acquired Android on August 17,2005 form $50 Million. Since then, Google has been successful in developing Android to become the leading Operation system in the smartphone world with a global market share of more then 80%.

Motorola

year: 2011 | Cost: 12.5 Billion

This was the biggest acquisition by google ever. But, they bought this to take revenge with Samsung. Three years later, Google sold the company to Lenovo for $10 Billion. During this time, Samsung was adding too much bloatware apps and messing with Android OS on its smartphones. Google couldn't do anything and people started hating Android OS and it made Google look bad. To take revenge from Samsung, Google launched it's flagship Mototola Nexus series and gave a Tough Competition to Samsung.

By doing this, Google wanted to tell everyone that it could crush it in smartphone manufacturing as well. And it worked well, Samsung singed a deal with google in which they promised to tone it down on android and focus on core android apps and keep it simple and user friendly.

Two days after that agreement, Google sold Motorola Mobility to Lenovo for $10 Billion. This clearly states that no one should mess with Google. The biggest Monopoly in the world-google doesn't take no for an answer.

Youtube

YouTube was purchased in October 2006 by Google for $1.65 Billion. At the time, this amount seemed massive and too much. Today, the platform approaches 2 Billion active monthly users.

Waze

Google acquired the mobile GPS navigation app waze in June 2013 for $966 million. This acquisition also gave Google access to waze's 50 million users, who can now be seved ads for local businesses through Google's advertising network.

Double Click

Double click specializes in Display Advertising. it was later integrated into AdSense. The idea behind the acquisition was to kill a competitor before it became too powerful.
